Generally, when changing dressing for a wound two or three days after surgery, it is necessary to check the amount of exudation on the surface of the wound. If there is no inflammation and less exudation, a synthetic sterile dressing can be used to cover the surface of the wound. If there is excessive wound exudation, even subcutaneous fluid accumulation, or wound infection, it should be covered with gauze dressing. Because in cases of excessive exudation, gauze can absorb water, while sterile dressings have poorer water absorption performance.
